A cue is like an extension to your arm for many players. Some people keep their's for years while others replace them every 6 months. How long have you owned your current cue?

MATCH REPORTS...

LONDON LADIES HOME TO SUSSEX 14.09.2014

Inter CountyThis was a very important match for us. If we could beat Sussex we would go above them in the tables and be in third place below Kent and Hampshire. The last time we played Sussex we lost 24 - 20, and considering they were a player short there was an even better chance for us to get the win.

MATCH PLAY

The 1st leg we stormed ahead 8-3 after having to rearrange the team to take into consideration Sussex being a player short.
What a great start just what we needed, but Sussex were playing really well and were a little unlucky not to pull back a few more frames.

The 2nd leg Sussex played better than we did and pulled it back to 13-9. We were still ahead but had to be careful not to let them get ahead of us.

The 3rd leg was a disaster for us and Sussex went ahead 16-17.
There was not much team support going on and it was no surprise to me that we found ourselves behind as this is not the first time this has happened to us.

The 4th leg was as bad as the 3rd and we lost 20-24.

A terrible result for us considering the great start.

If the team does not pick themselves up and start to support their team mates and actually come together as a team and improve the team moral we will find ourselves second from last in the tables and rightly so.
We have a good team and could play so much better.

PLAYER OF MATCH

Well done to Corinne and Sarah you both well deserved player of the match.

lONDON LADIES AWAY TO KENT 10.08.2014

Inter CountyThere is only one question that is asked when we play Kent, how many frames can we take from them. Our aim is to go one better than the last time we played them.
Unfortunately this time we only managed 13, but read on to find out why this was a good result for us in the end.

MATCH PLAY

It is always difficult to win frames against Kent but we try our hardest and in the first leg we only managed to get 2 frames making it 9 - 2 to Kent.

The second leg was a repeat of the first, another 2 frames to us making it 18-4 to Kent. I could not even say that we were playing bad, it just was not happening for us.

The third leg we managed to up our game taking 5 frames which made it 24 -9. It was looking a lot more respectable and the players seemed to be feeling better about their games. There was a rumor from the Kent side that we would not get more than 12 frames from them. So a little team talk was had to spur us on to make sure we did.

The final leg we managed to get 4 frames making the score 31 - 13.

Considering the bad start we had I was very pleased with the final score line. Well done to all the ladies for their great effort in turning the game around for us. We may not have beaten our best score against Kent of 15 but we got a lot closer than we thought we might.

Well done to Kerry and myself, 3 out of 4 is a great score.

Well done Kirsty for getting 2 and nearly making it a 3.

Have to mention Donna as you are our least experienced player and to get 1 frame
against the likes of Kent is fantastic for you.

I would like to welcome Kate Hillman to the team, who stepped in as an emergency player so that we were not a player short.
Not the easiest of first matches for you and although you did not manage to win a frame you played some good pool and we look forward to seeing you settle into the team and show us your potential.

All in all a good friendly match as always with Kent and we look forward to playing them next season and taking more frames away from them.

MATCH PLAY

We stormed ahead in the first leg winning 9-2, what a great start, just what we needed to boost the team moral.

Then we took our foot off the pedal and disaster struck. This is not the first time this has happened to us, and we only managed to win 3 frames making it 12-10 to us. Fair play to Berkshire they took advantage of our complacency and showed us how to make a come back.

The 3rd leg was tight as we managed to win 6 frames to make it 18-15, a good recovery by us, but we must keep it up and not let them back in the game.

The final leg was nip and tuck as both teams knuckled down to try and get the win.
It was such a tight leg that it came down to the last frame.
we needed it to win the game and they needed it to draw.

Last player was myself and I had to draw on all my experience and dig in deep as I had no chance of a finish in sight. Luckily they left themselves a tricky cut on the black which they missed and left sitting on the bottom cushion. I had a long pot which I made and got a great position on my last ball to give me the angle to pot and come off 3 cushions to land perfect alongside the black for an easy pot to win the game.

Thanks ladies please don't do that to me again, I must have aged 10 years. Just win your games and give me an easy time.

Well done to Berkshire for a hard fought match.

Player of the match TBA

LONDON LADIES HOME TO SURREY

Inter CountyWe needed a good result from this match especially after the disaster we had against Hampshire the previous month. It turned out to be a hard fought match, with games being given away by both teams. The end result was a draw and I feel was the right result. Well done to all the ladies that took part.

The first leg ended 6-5 to us and to be honest we should have won a few more.

The second leg ended 11-11 and I told the players if we were going to win we needed to step up a gear and pull a few frames ahead to make it harder for Surrey to get back into the game.

The third leg we managed to pull ahead 16-13 and it was looking good, but Surrey came back and it ended 17-16 to us.

By the fourth leg we were playing on 3 tables as the games got longer and the player fought harder to win frames. Near the end of the game we managed to be 22-20 ahead, only needing to win 1 frame from our last 2. But it was not to be and the game ended in a great fought draw. Well done to Surrey.

Player of the match was awarded to Corinne. Well done.

The first leg started really well as we went 6-2 up but we lost the last 3 games making it 6-5 to us.

The second leg was a disaster, we won 1 game from the 11 putting us 7-15 down.

The third leg we lost the next 2 games and the team moral was so low and support almost nonexistent you would have thought we had already lost the match.
I pulled the team aside and gave them a team talk to try to boost their morale. We only managed to win 2 games putting us 9-24.

The last leg was just as bad and the final score was 12-32.

We were all so disappointed with our performance as we know that we can all do so much better and have done in previous matches.

I would like to welcome Lisa Massheder to the team who played well in her first match for us.

I had told the team at the end of the match that I was not going to award a player of the match but on reflection I will and it goes to Charlotte.

Lets hope that we can turn things around and get our support and morale back for our next game against Surrey.

We lost the first leg 4-7, giving away games needlessly.
The second leg we lost 5-6, playing better but still not up to par.
We won the third leg 6-5 upping our game and showing Sussex we meant business.
On the last leg we managed to get 1 frame away at 18-19 and then we lost silly games again allowing Sussex to win 24-20.

Disappointing result especially as we played well to get within 1 frame away. It was always going to be a tough game and Sussex did well to take the advantages that we gave them. Well done Sussex.

New player for us this month was Carol McKenzie. Well done Carol. I know you were disappointed with your first two games, but you showed your true form winning your last two.

Well done to Sarah, Angie and myself for getting 3 out of 4.

Player of the match went to Sarah, well done

Sussex Juniors v London Juniors 13/04/14

Inter CountyOn Sunday 13th April, London Juniors faced last year's Regional Champions, Sussex, in Brighton. This was a very important match as a win would mean we would be top of the table.

The team was Tony Griffin, Mehmet Tango, Jasper Bacon, Chris Panayiotou, Chris Wormsley, Shane O'Reilly, Kieran Osborne, Billy Levingbird, Sam Baker, Connor Hewson and Ethan Cook.

The battle was hard and difficult, losing the first set 6-5, but winning the second 7-4 to reach halfway 12-10 up.

Shaun Wormsley was subbed on for Ethan Cook for the third set, which Sussex won 6-5.

In the 4th set, Alan Bushell replaced Kieran Osborne.

It came down to the last frame, with London 22-21 up, and Billy Levingbird won to secure the victory. The team was ecstatic. After the match had finished, and everyone's hand had been shaken, everyone on the team was so pleased, and left with big smiles on their faces.

Special mentions to Chris Wormsley for 4/4, and Sean Halligan awarded Man of the Match to Billy Levingbird for holding it together in the last frame, along with the entire team.

(Match report prepared by Ethan Cook)

London Juniors v Kent Juniors 23/03/14

Inter CountyLondon Juniors played Kent Juniors on Sunday 23rd March, welcoming back former team mates Jack and Oliver Lawrence.

The team was Tony Griffin, Jasper Bacon, Shane O'Reilly, Shaun Wormsley, Connor Hewson, Mehmet Tango, Kieran Osborne, Sam Baker, Chris Wormsley, Chris Panayiotou and Billy Levingbird.

The first 2 sets were a close call with London winning them both 6-5, giving them a 2 point lead at halftime.

The third set was more hopeful as London won 7-4, still with the starting 11.

In set 4, Ethan Cook replaced Sam Baker, and although the set was lost 6-5, the match was won 24-20.

Special mentions to Connor Hewson with 4/4, sharing man of the match with Chris Panayiotou and Kieran Osborne.

London Ladies Home to Kent 23.03.14

The first set we managed to get 5 frames but to be quite honest it should have been more as Kent were not at their best. The ladies got behind each other and the support was good.

The second set Kent had settled down and we only managed to get 1 frame. Our support seemed to go down hill at this stage, so a quiet talk to the team to get us back in the game.

The third set we managed to get 5 frames, a much better performance and support by all.

The final set we managed to get 4 frames and the support was good again.

Well done ladies we did what we set out to do and we did ourselves proud.

Our new player for this match was May who played a great game and just missed potting the black ball. Better luck next time

It was a tight first leg, London just scraping a 6-5 lead.
We then stormed away in the second leg with a 9-2 following this on with a 7-4 3rd leg. The final leg was another 6-5 but should have been more, but fair play to Berkshire they did well.

Well done to all the team, I would like to thank you all as we pulled together as a team and I hope that we can keep this standard up for the rest of the season.

I would also like to thank the new players who played their first game for London, Sarah and Amy who both played really well. We all know it's not easy to come into a new team, especially a county team and settle in as quickly as they did and win games. Well done.
